Amao Leota Lu is a proud Samoan fa’afafine and Pasifika indigenous trans woman of colour. She is an LGBTIQ community elder and leader who is a trans advocate, consultant, public speaker and performance artist. Her work focusses on weaving the tapestry of intersectionality of race, culture and gender. She has worked in various communities and capacities in the fields of education, health, the arts and radio and has been actively involved in LGBTIQ community affairs both locally, nationally and internationally for over 37 years. Her most memorable role is that of auntie; supporting all her queer and trans Pasifika and People Of Colour communities in ballroom.
